A wide mahogany framed sampler by Ann Whitehouse dated 1834, worked in coloured silks on a fine linen ground, in small stitches, bordered with a geometric stylistic vining pattern, set with a central verse, above her name and date, the sampler also embroidered with spot floral motifs, 31.5cm wide x 41cm high. Condition - the verse has a dark patch, there are other patches, the colours have faded in sunlight but stitching and background are undamaged or holed. The frame is good, the slip has gilt missing.

A gilt framed finely worked Regency gauze sampler, by Amelia Artus, aged 8 years, dated 1813, worked on fine gauze with coloured silk threads, with a large central panel having a long verse, two motifs of cornucopia, potted flowers and dogs and a central cartouche with her name, age and date below, surrounded by a wide embroidered border., 39cm wide x 30cm high. Condition - the sampler embroidered on gauze is unusual but mounted on patterned paper makes the imagery hard to define, re-mounted on white card would enhance it. There is some fading to some colours due to sunlight, but there appears to be no moth or damage to the fabric or silk stitching. The frame has gilding missing.

Condition - the fabric of the dress is sound, the bodice and skirt separated by a mid body section of muslin later, both bodice and skirt could be reattached as they were originally and muslin discarded.

A late 1920’s early 30’s green panne silk velvet evening dress, bias cut, with large diamanté ornamentation and bow on the hip, bust 36 inches, length 55inches. Condition - there is a small hole on the front near arm hole, a few light stains on the front bodice, the bow on hip needs attaching more securely. The dress needs washing or cleaning.

Decorated with chevron motifs at side and lower sleeve detailing, front under arm width 19 inches, length back: top of collar to bottom 45 inches. Condition - there are a few snags to the fabric on the top right front side of the coat, possibly where a corsage has been worn and pinned.

A mid 20th century Royal blue satin gentleman’s smoking jacket and matching dressing gown with Chinese gold dragon embroidery to both the quilted collars and cuffs, measurement from top back of collar to bottom of dressing gown 56 inches. Condition - both the collars at the back of both garments are badly stained and need washing or re-covering and one cord tie belt needs replacing.
Shoulder seam to shoulder seam 46cm approx.. Armpit to armpit 53cm approx. Some typical signs of wear consistent with use, discolouration and yellowing to the lighter fabric especially around the collar. Some stitching has become unpicked in places.

Three pairs of late 19th / early 20th century Chinese ladies embroidered silk shoes, for bound feet, one with sheep’s wool pom-poms, together with a similar a pair of silk embroidered ankle boots and pair of decorative red, gold and black painted wooden shoe lasts. All made for ladies with bound feet. Largest; boots 16.5cm heel to toe. Condition - The black silk embroidered shoes show slight wear on tips of the toe fronts, the green and lilac shoes, the silk is slightly faded in places. The boots appear to have not been worn but silk has faded slightly with age. The shoe lasts are good. (5 pairs in total)

Three French fans: a mother of pearl and sequin fan boxed, a painted silk, feather and bone fan and a gilt decorated bone figural paper fan, the two bone fans having gilt mirrored mounts on the guards, figural paper fan 50cm wide. Condition - paper leaf torn, two mirrored mounts cracked. Feather and silk fan needs re stringing, some feather trim worn. The sequin fan the leaf and sticks in good condition, one guard broken needs restoration.

A length of 1660-1670 Italian Venetian Gros Point needle lace, this heavy needle lace was made with a wide cordonnet padded with wool, using close buttonhole stitch, to create large scrolling patterns in heavy relief, linked with short brides and picots. Worn by royalty, aristocrats and also high ranking cardinals for their church vestments and altar cloths. 90cm long x 10cm deep. Condition - possibly cut from a deeper and longer flounce. Some original brides and picots missing or replaced, acceptable for it’s age and use

A large section of an ornate 19th century Brussels bobbin lace wedding veil, with two finished edges and one cut edge together with 18th century and later needle lace, an Argentan and an Alencon trimming, possibly an 18th century Valenciennes needle lace lappet and a length of Mechlin trimming, lappet 92cm long (5). Condition - the Argentan lace has a small stain and minor breaks in the hand netting, the Valenciennes top edge has slight damage. The other laces appear to be good.

A 17th century Point Plat Venetian needle lace fall collar, fall collars became high fashion mostly for men in the 1640’s-70’s, this delicate collar was possibly commissioned by the church for ecclesiastical use for a Cardinal or possibly a courtier, made in five sections, skilfully sewn together to create this large horseshoe shape. 70cm deep x 122cm wide. Condition - some picots are detached but can be professionally restored. Any damage is acceptable considering it’s use and age.

A large 20th century Uzbek multi coloured and embroidered Suzani wall hanging. The word Suzani meaning needlepoint in Farsi. Made in three panels embroidered on a rich dark red background, using large stylised multi coloured decorative boteh motifs, finely edged in black. 176cm x 194cm. Condition - some very slight fading to background cloth, due to age and use, embroidery strong in colour with no damage.
